To show support for veterans and their service, past and present, the Nueces County Veterans Services, Del Mar College Veterans Services and the Veterans Administration are teaming up to host their annual Veterans Resource Fair.

Attendees will browse vendor booths to learn about veteran-specific programs, offers, products, and services only available to the Veterans in Nueces County and surrounding communities.

The fourth annual Veterans Resource Fair will take place on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Veterans, family members and transitioning service members are urged to stop by the Center for Economic Development at Del Mar College, 3209 S. Staples in Corpus Christi. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

“This is the opportunity for veterans and their dependents to come out, get information on veteran benefits, education, land board, questions on VA claims, and signing veterans up for VA health care,” Nueces County veterans service officer Martin A. Longoria said. “The Vet Center will be here providing counseling services, and what you need to do to sign up for burial at Coastal Bend Veterans State Cemetery. The Texas Women’s program will be here. It is a multitude of agencies that are providing different information to whatever the veteran needs.”

Transitioning back into civilian life can be difficult for many veterans. But the Nueces County Veterans Services is trying to help with this FREE Veterans Resource Fair that is designed to educate veterans and their dependents on the benefits and resources available to them.

Community organizations will have information available on such topics as medical and compensation benefits, therapy and fitness programs, tax and legal concerns, healthcare, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs pension and compensation, employment, housing and obtaining military documentation.

The goal is to provide veterans and their families with access to resources earned through their service to the United States.

Last year, more than 200 veterans attended the Veterans Resource Fair. This year they are expecting even more veterans to attend and hoping it will continue to grow so they can help as many veterans as possible.

For more information, call Nueces County Veteran Services at 361-888-0820.

This is a time for all veterans to educate themselves on veteran and dependent benefits that may be available.

Veterans will also receive help securing their potential benefits, attend resume-writing workshops, learn job interviewing skills and financial planning strategies, obtain information on their legal rights as veterans and more.
