There’s been a new development in the future of the old Nueces County Courthouse.
The Ed Rachal Foundation has expressed an interest in buying the historic building. The issue was on the Nueces County Commissioners meeting agenda for discussion yesterday, but the talks were tabled.
The foundation wants to tear the building down and keep the land, but under an agreement with the Texas Historical Commission, the courthouse can’t be torn down until 2027.
Nueces County commissioners are hoping to work with the state to get that date changed.
