A trailer house burned to the ground this morning in rural Nueces County. Thankfully, officials say there are no signs that anyone was living in the trailer

The fire began just before 4:30 a.m. on FM 666 and County Road 38 near Banquete.

When crews from Robstown, Annaville and Banquete arrived, the trailer was completely burned to the ground and a grass fire had been ignited, according to Michael Clack, Annaville Fire Department Chief.

Crews kept the flames from spreading to nearby properties with tanker trucks, as there are no fire hydrants in that area, which is not a simple task, Clack said.

“It is more difficult because we have to haul over all the water, there is no hydrants where we are at, so we have to be very conservative with the water so we won’t run out,” Clack said.

Clack said it looked like the property was being cleared out and there was no power running to the structure. The cause is unknown at this time.

Crews were able to put the fire out within an hour. No injuries were reported.
