A candlelight vigil is being held tonight to honor Three Rivers ISD Superintendent Dr. Mary Springs after she suffered from a medical emergency. A post to Three Rivers ISD Facebook page said her family took her off of life support on Wednesday.

“We expect that she will pass and join her parents within the next few hours,” the post from the family said. “After that, she will continue to give back as we honor her wish to be an organ donor.”

The post states that Springs called 911 when she was having trouble breathing. She lost consciousness and was rushed to the hospital. Her family decided to make the decision to take her off of life support after tests showed no brain activity.

The district also announced that counselors and pastors will be available for students, faculty and the school’s staff as needed today.

The vigil to honor her life will be held tonight in front of the Junior/Senior High School in Three Rivers.

It is with great sadness that we share the message below from the Springs Family. We would like to invite the community…
