A 16-year old boy has been detained by Corpus Christi police after trying to snatch a girl from Ray High School.
According to CCISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke, the boy grabbed the girl who was on campus about 9:10 a.m.
A CCISD police officer saw a struggle and ran toward the pair. That’s when the boy released the girl and ran.
The officer chased the boy and called for backup. Corpus Christi Police and a city marshal immediately responded to the scene. They caught the boy near Orlando Drive and Casa Bonita Drive.
He was detained and has been taken to the Juvenile Justice Center.
Warnke tells KRIS 6 the boy and girl are known to have had some type of relationship.
The 16-year old will face several charges including kidnapping, unlawful restraint and evading arrest.
