King High School was placed on lockdown this morning after a report of an armed man nearby.
At 9:08 a.m., the Corpus Christi Police Department informed the school that a man with a gun was behind the Sonic restaurant on Staples Street, which is near the campus, according to Corpus Christi ISD Police Chief Kirby Warnke.
The district then placed the school on lockdown. The lockdown was lifted about 10 minutes later after the police department notified the school that the suspect was apprehended.
CCISD sent an automated message to parents about the incident and it plans to send letters home with students.
