UPDATE: Power has been fully restored. There may be some flashing traffic lights, so use caution if traveling in the area.

A major power outage has more than 2,300 AEP customers in the dark this morning.

The outage happened just after 1:00 a.m. near Yorktown and Rodd Field Road due to high winds, according to officials with AEP.

The AEP outage map says crews are “assessing condition” of the outage. There is no estimated restoration time at the moment. AEP crews are on scene working on a resolution.

Check back with the AEP map often, as the status could change.

There are a few CCISD schools within the outage area, but a spokesperson for CCISD says at this time, there are NO school delays due to the outage.

No other information is available at this time.
