Babies born at Christus Spohn Hospitals are receiving a nice gift.
Christus Spohn is celebrating National Heart Month by handing out some handmade red hats for the babies there.
Spohn South began handing out the hats this morning as part of their “Little Hats, Big Hearts” campaign. The little red hats are knitted by local volunteers and each one is different.
The hospital and the American Heart Association wants to get the word out that babies also suffer from congenital heart defects.
Christus Spohn is also reminding parents that they do screen all of their babies for congenital heart defects before they are discharged.
Spohn South expects to deliver 200 babies by the end of this month and each of them will receive their own little hat, a lifetime remembrance of their birth at the hospital.
