The Padre Island National Seashore has canceled its popular “Kite Day” due to the previous government shutdown.
In a post to the PINS Facebook page, officials say there is not enough time to adequately plan and prepare for the festival.
Officials also worry about another potential lapse in funding on Feb. 15.
