Once again there will be something unique about the annual San Patricio County Livestock Show.

The 8th Annual San Patricio County Extra Special Livestock Show kicks off Wednesday, January 23, 2019, 8:30 a.m. at the San Patricio County Fairgrounds Event Center off of 219 W. Fifth Street in Sinton, Texas.

The Extra Special Livestock Show started in 2012 with about 100 special needs students, and every year it has grown. This year more than 350 students will be participating from 22 Coastal Bend schools.

This annual event will take place at the Fairgrounds during the San Patricio Agricultural and Homemakers Show.

The livestock show allows special need youth from across the Coastal Bend to experience a true livestock show, which is an experience they would not otherwise be exposed to.

According to the Journal of Veterinary Medicine, there are distinct health benefits between human and animal interaction. These benefits range from increased cognitive abilities to ensuring better emotional & mental health.

Special needs children (ages 19 & under) are invited to show a goat or a lamb. (Animals will be provided.) Exhibitors are assisted by San Patricio 4H County Ambassadors and other 4H member volunteers.
The students will be judged and will receive a ribbon for participating in the annual San Patricio County Extra Special Livestock Show.
