New details are emerging on former U.S. Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s visit to Corpus Christi. She apparently had a great time.

Palin and her family were in Texas and posted this photograph on Saturday in front of Nona’s Cocina at Hamlin Shopping Center on the 4000 block Weber Road.

The restaurant’s owner, Erika Rose, said her husband, plastic surgeon Keith Rose, is good friends with Palin’s son-in-law, Dakota Meyer. They met through the “Team Five” Medical Foundation and other relief work.

“My husband said they might stop by and get something to eat. They have had our food before and they love it,” Rose said.

The restaurant serves authentic Mexican food made by Rose’s mother, Erica Franco.

Later that day, Sarah stopped by, said hello and grabbed a bite to eat. Rose says Sarah was sweet, as always.

“Oh, she’s just great,” Rose said. “She’s a great person, very down to earth and very simple and she loved our food.”

Rose said they had Nona’s plate, which features a little bit of everything on the menu.

Rose said they just moved to that location in mid-October and the Facebook post of the Palins at her restaurant has been good for business.

Nona’s Cocina is located at 4006 Weber Road.

“Commotion is great for the business because people are calling and asking and inquiring,” Rose said. “And I think it’s great because we are not very well known.”
