CCPD: Officer at fault for causing car crash

Investigators with the Corpus Christi police department say an officer was at fault for causing a car crash.

CCPD: Driver hospitalized following crash involving CCPD vehicle

The incident happened around 8:00 p.m. Saturday near the 1000 block of Buford near Staples Street.

According to Corpus Christi Police Captain James Lerma, an officer was responding to a call when his vehicle collided with another car at an intersection.

The driver of the car that was struck was transported to the hospital to be checked out. Capt. Lerma said at the crash scene the hospital transportation was protocol.

Monday afternoon, a CCPD spokesperson told KRIS 6 News, the person at fault for causing the crash was the officer.
