The first baby born in Corpus Christi in 2019 came early in the new year.
Selena Saldana and Justin Morales were up late on New Year’s Eve, but they weren’t watching the ball drop or shooting fireworks.
“It’s gonna be crazy though. I have a daughter,” Morales said about his daughter, who arrived a few days late.
“I started going into labor two days ago,” Saldana said. “We came in yesterday and they had to do an emergency c-section.”
Saldana delivered her first baby girl Athena Michelle at 3:49 a.m. Tuesday at CHRISTUS Spohn South.
She weighed exactly seven pounds and was the first baby born in 2019 in Corpus Christi.
The baby was born with a full head of hair, and at just a few hours old, she’s already sporting a mohawk.
“Well, obviously she doesn’t get it from me. I wasn’t expecting her to have that much hair. She obviously gets it from her mom,” Morales said.
