A traffic stop that turned into a police chase ended with one man in jail this Christmas Eve.
According to Corpus Christi Police, officers were conducting a routine traffic stop on McArdle Road. The car being pulled over pulled into the Sunrise Mall parking lot, and as officers were processing the man’s information, it was determined that the driver had given them a fake name.
When the officer questioned the man’s identification, he took off on foot.
Police say officers struggled briefly with the man, but he was able to get away and run into the mall. He was caught a short time later and arrested.
Officers said the man also had a warrant out for his arrest.
