As the winds begin picking up throughout Thursday night, more Coastal Bend residents are dealing with power outages.  Police are manning a few major intersections around town without functioning traffic lights such as the Baldwin and Crosstown intersection.

A spokesman for AEP-Texas attributes the power outages to downed equipment caused by the high winds.  And according to the electric company’s Facebook page, at 10 p.m. approximately 1,800 southside customers are still without electric service while 560 in the midtown area and 400 in the northwest area remained without power. About 640 customers in Aransas Pass also remained without electric service.

AEP Texas crews planned to continue their restoration effort this evening as long as they could work safely. They will resume restoration activities on Friday morning.
