This Saturday, volunteers are needed to help build a new state-of-the-art playground at Dolphin Park in North Beach. In just a few hours, they will assemble a playground providing a place to play for both neighborhood kids and for families who come to enjoy a day at the beach.

This playground project is funded by the Rebuild Texas Fund and KaBOOM! to serve communities affected by Hurricane Harvey by ensuring kids can get back to the business of childhood. Other partners on the project are North Beach Community Association and the City’s Parks & Recreation Department.

Earlier this fall, a group of local kids were invited to help design the playground that will soon be built in their neighborhood.

There will be food provided by Pier 99 and Blackbeard’s, and coffee from GreenLight Coffee. A couple city officials will at the playground build, including City Councilwoman Paulette Guajardo and City Councilman Everett Roy.

Volunteers will meet at Dolphin Park (200 Sandbar Avenue) at 7:45 a.m.

Ribbon Cutting will be 2:30 p.m.
