Approximately 150 runners came together at Bob Hall Pier for the first ever Red Stripe Memorial Run.

This was to honor Marine Captain Jake “Red Stripe” Frederick.

Frederick was a Corpus Christi native and Ray High Schoo, graduate. Years later his life was cut short. Jake died when his FA-18 Hornet crashed into the Sea of Japan back in December of 2016.

Within that time of grief, The Wingman Foundation which is based in San Diego CA, stepped in to help loved ones. The non-profit honors fallen pilots by supporting their families.

“So we can definitely step up and take care of those immediate needs and that way the family is focused on their healing process and not worrying about the finances,” says Executive Director for the Wingman Foundation Michael Rogers.

The Red Stripe run hosted by the Wingman foundation led runners to take their mark and honor the ones who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
