A meeting was held at the Radisson Hotel for citizens to ask questions and hear a presentation regarding the 8th proposition from the 2012 city bond.

The proposition focuses heavily on the enhancement of North Beach, including the reconstruction of sidewalks, roads and storm drains. City officials believe changes will help tourism as well.

“This is going to be for both our citizens and for our tourists,” Michelle Villarreal Leschper of the City Engineering Department said. “There are a lot of tourists that go to that area during the summer during Spring break and things like that.”

North Beach has been a tourist attraction in Corpus Christi for quite sometime, with USS Lexington and the Texas State Aquarium. City officials and members of the North Beach community hope this bond project will also attract more Coastal Bend residents.

“People from Corpus if you haven’t been here in a while this is going to be one reason to come over, once they have this finished and it is just going to be so much nicer,” Carrie Meyers of the North Beach Neighbor Association said.

The five month project is expected to begin at the end of this year.
