The Texas Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that residents affected by the new Harbor Bridge project in the Hillcrest-Washington Coles area have six months left to sign up for the voluntary relocation program.

TxDOT officials say 345 residents have expressed interest in participating in the program, and the Port of Corpus Christi has purchased 186 homes and helped owners or tenants there with relocation.

Pastor Adam Carrington of the Brooks Worship Center said his church is affected by the construction.

“I believe it’s as fair as it can be. Yes, there are some folks who are unhappy, especially the landlords, who are unhappy about certain portions of the agreement, but it’s not going to change,” Carrington said.

Affected residents have until May 7th, 2019 to submit a written request for help with relocation.
