Corpus Christi police were called out to a convenience store after a driver struck the business.

When officers arrived on the scene, they noticed the business had damage but they didn’t see the car that hit the building.

The crash happened just before 1:30 pm Sunday afternoon near Ayers Street and Arlington Road.

Police were able to locate the driver of the vehicle in a neighborhood near the store.

The female driver told police that she had the vehicle in the wrong gear and ended up backing into the store. Police say the driver fled the scene because she didn’t have a driver’s license.

Because she left the area after the crash, police say she will be charged for not staying at the scene of a crash and not having a driver’s license.

Investigators also added the crash caused $10,000 in damage.
