Police are asking for your help after detectives re-opened a cold case rape investigation.

After a suspect’s DNA matched in a rape investigation in Houston, police say the same DNA matched in an earlier rape investigation conducted by Aransas Pass police detectives back on Oct. 2, 2013.

The original rape investigation back in 2013, the incident happened in the 900 Block of North Commercial in Rockport.

Detectives say a Hispanic male suspect crossed the roadway to ask a female victim a question.

Police say the victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male who was about average height with black hair. He was wearing a white shirt and khaki kickback pants.

When the victim got around the 1000 Block of North Commercial, the suspect assaulted her and tried to knock her out. Detectives say the suspect then brutalized and raped her.

With the new information about a Houston investigation also involving the Rockport suspect’s DNA match, detectives released this information to the public.
