In one day, Marta Espinosa lost three of her sons and her father-in-law. Meanwhile, her husband remains in the hospital after being shot in Taft over the weekend.

Today, Espinosa says her family didn’t do anything wrong.

“He shouldn’t have done that my boys,” Espinosa says. “They never bothered anybody.”

Espinoza says the victims and the suspects in the shooting are cousins. Today, she read a statement prepared by the lone survivor, her husband Juan Sandoval, Jr.

Sandoval said his father saw him get shot and that’s when his father ran at one of the suspects and got shot in the head. Then Juan Jr.’s son Jeremy tried to help his father and he was shot as well.

Juan Jr. was shot in the face. His father, 62-year-old Juan Sandoval Sr., and three of his sons. 25-year-old Nicky, 22-year-old Jeremy and 20-year-old Juan III, were killed.

Espinoza says her husband is mobile, but his jaw is wired shut so he can’t speak.

She says her family now wants justice to be served and to see those responsible sent to prison.
