Nueces County officials released the five finalists to replace outgoing Sheriff Jim Kaelin.
The five finalists include:
- John Hooper
- Scott Mandel
- Daniel Perez
- Monica Villagomez-Rios
- Larry Young
Kaelin’s replacement will complete the rest of his terms lasting through 2020 when his term expires.
Kaelin will retire Oct. 31 after 12 years on the job.
