Firefighter placed on administrative leave following alleged assault

A local firefighter has been placed on administrative leave after an alleged aggravated assault incident.

According to an investigation report from the Corpus Christi Police Department, police were called to an apartment complex near the intersection of Staples Street and Timbergate Drive on Oct. 6.

The victim, a 32-year-old man, told police that he was assaulted by a co-worker’s husband.

The victim told police 54-year-old Jon Dodge, assaulted him with brass knuckles and also choked him.

Dodge fled the scene before police arrived. He was eventually found at another location and arrested.

A police report states Dodge was charged with aggravated assault, breaking into a home with the intent of committing a felony and possessing a deadly weapon.

Jail records state Dodge is employed as a firefighter with the Corpus Christi Fire Department.

CCFD Chief Robert Rocha said Dodge was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a court hearing.
