The city of Aransas Pass has issued a water boil notice.

In a statement today, the city said:

The City of Aransas Pass lost its elevated water tower during Hurricane Harvey and is currently relying on two ground storage tanks powered by pumps to supply and maintain water for the City. On October 8, 2018, most of the City lost power which caused the water pumps to shut down. This in turn caused the water pressure in the system to drop below the required pressure set by TCEQ standards. As required, a water boil notice has to be issued as a precaution until samples can be taken and tested to ensure there are no issue. City crews are currently working on collecting the samples. Once results are in, City will notify residents when the water notice will be lifted.

This is a developing story, and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
