The woman accused of assaulting a student at Martin Middle School appeared in court.
Maria Recio, 58, is charged with injury to a child. Judge Missy Medary set her bond at $5,000 during a Friday court appearance and ordered Recio to appear in court next week.
According to Corpus Christi Independent School District police, Recio was at the school picking up her granddaughter Thursday afternoon. They say her granddaughter was involved in a fight with another girl.
While picking up her granddaughter, there was an altercation. The other girl was injured but didn’t need medical attention.
Recio was arrested after the incident.
