A week after the capital murder trial of David Davila ended in a mistrial, the family of the victim says they still believe justice will be served.

But Yolanda Quiroz, grandmother of 13-year-old victim Alex Torres, says her family remains upset and angry how the case ended.

“It hurts, it hurts so much and then going through all of this and not getting a verdict,” Quiroz said.

Witnesses shared details throughout the case.

Christina Trevino explained how she drove Davila to the Treyway Apartments the night of the shooting. Another  witness testified she gave Davila a gun.

But those details weren’t enough for the jury, which couldn’t come to a unanimous verdict in the trial.

Now, Torres’ family says they’re waiting for the case to go back to court. They say they hope prosecutors will be tougher during questioning and provide the closure they say they deserve.
