The Corpus Christi Independent School District has named an interim principal for W.B. Ray High School.
In a release today, the district said Roxanne Gonzalez Cuevas, who is currently an assistant principal at Ray, will begin serving as interim principal on Oct. 8.
A graduate of Mary Carroll High School and the University of Texas, Cuevas has been with CCISD for 26 years. She is also holds a master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Cuevas is in her 11th year at Ray High School, and has been an administrator with CCISD for 21 years.
“Mrs. Cuevas was a natural choice for interim principal,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “Her extensive experience in the Texan community will provide a seamless continuation of the school year.”
Dr. Cissy Perez, who was Ray’s principal for 10 years, will step down Friday to take a position as assistant superintendent at West Oso ISD.
