Folks around the city are getting ready for the biggest block party of 2018.
We are talking about National Night Out. This year marks its 35th anniversary.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, and neighborhood camaraderie.
Police said National Night Out first started in 1984 with 23 states and 2.5 million Americans participating in traditional outside lights and front porch vigils.
As a result of its popularity, cities around the nation host block parties, cookouts, parades, and festivals.
Also, as a result of multiple parties being hosted across the city, police say you can attend a National Night Out event at these community centers.
