Organizers announced Thursday that the 2018 Conquer the Coast has been cancelled due to the severe weather heading towards the Corpus Christi area this weekend.

They said the goal was to maintain safety of all riders, volunteers and staff.

Despite the cancellation, donations will still be made to the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Athletic Scholarship Fund, Bikes for Kids, Bike Texas, and the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

Shirts and medals for the 2018 Conquer the Coast will be available for pickup.  The United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation will be hosting a “packet pickup” on September 21, 2018 from 2 p.m.-7 p.m. on the patio of Executive Surf Club, in Corpus Christi.  We are working with the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation to offer other “packet pickups” in other cities and will get more details out as we gather this information.

If you purchased a 2018 Conquer the Coast cycling jersey or kit, those will be shipped to the address on file by September 21, 2018, via USPS (tracking # is available).

Many of the costs of the event have already been incurred, and therefore refunds will not be available.  However, entry to the 2019 Conquer the Coast will be offered to all 2018 participants at heavily discounted prices:  The Valero 10-mile will be $5;  the 21-mile will be $15;  and the Cheniere 66-mile will be $20.  Registration information and links will be emailed to all 2018 participants once the event date for 2019 is set and registration is ready to open.

We appreciate your understanding and your support of the United Corpus Christi Chamber of Commerce Foundation and Conquer the Coast.  We hope to see you back on the course in 2019.
