Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb has announced that the 58h annual Texas Jazz Festival will remain at Heritage Park.

On Monday afternoon, Texas Jazz Festival organizers announced they were going to move to a new location later this year.

Texas Jazz Festival president Emilio Reyes told KRIS 6 News the festival has outgrown Heritage Park and there are certain stipulations set by the city the festival couldn’t meet.

An emergency meeting between festival organizers and city officials was held this morning to address concerns for the upcoming festival.

Jay Ellington, director of Corpus Christi’s Parks and Recreation, said the festival is critical for the city.

“These events and the quality of life for our community is very important,” Ellington said. “We recognize that and we want people to enjoy our parks, our festivals and all of our outdoor spaces. It is a very, very good event for our community.”

This is a developing story, and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
