Guy Williams, the 148th District Judge who has recently been in trouble with the law, gave an emotional interview to KRIS 6 News Wednesday.

In a statement, Williams said he wanted to address the citizens of the community after KRIS 6 News reported he had checked into a treatment facility in early August for PTSD.

In the interview, Williams speaks about his years in the military and his battle with PTSD, which he says led him to cope by drinking alcohol.

“As a consequence, I had scraps with the law, disappointed myself, my wife, my family, friends, co-workers and the judiciary,” Williams read from the statement he drafted prior to the interview. “To all those I offended during this time, I offer my sincere and humble apology, and I ask for forgiveness.”

Williams made headlines when he was indicted on two felony counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, accused of pointing his gun at two people during a traffic incident in April of 2017.

This past March, a jury acquitted Williams of one felony count, but deadlocked on a second felony count. The second felony count has since been dismissed.

The judge was suspended from the bench by the State Commission on Judicial Conduct after the felony charges were filed. That suspension was lifted after the dismissal of the aggravated assault case.

Judge Williams says that he wants to return to the bench, but says now is not the appropriate time.
