Parental involvement was on full display tonight over at Tuloso-Midway Primary School. It was a “signup night” for the school’s “Watch Dogs” program.
The dogs, in this case, stand for “Dads Of Great Students”.
Dads, who sign-up, commit themselves to spend a day in the classroom with the young students.
They’ll do everything from reading to the class, to helping with recess, and they even get to be hall monitors
“It’s a great way for dads to stay involved with their kids, not only educationally, but emotionally as well. and i keep doing it because of the look on kids faces you know when we come in on a day to day basis,” said David Barrera Jr., School Volunteer.
The school was expecting about 300 volunteers to sign up tonight. This is the 3rd year they’ve had this program.
