CORPUS CHRISTI – Traffic on the freeway was backed up after a five-vehicle crash along South Padre Island Drive.

The crash happened around 1:30 pm Friday afternoon on the freeway near SPID and Weber Road intersection.

Medics were called to check on several people including a pregnant woman. Police say no one had any major injuries.

Shortly after that accident, an SUV broke down on the freeway’s Eastbound lane in the far left lane and police say that contributed to the backup.

Around 2:45 pm Friday afternoon, police were also called out to a dump truck rollover accident from the 358 to the  Crosstown Expressway extension. Police say a Corpus Christi Solid Waste truck blew a tire which caused it to roll over.

Police say the driver of the garbage truck was already out of the vehicle when they arrived.
