
CORPUS CHRISTI – A Corpus Christi police officer is getting checked out by medics after police say she was bitten by a dog.
The incident happened around 3:15 pm Friday afternoon in the 1200 block of Bernice Drive near Oso Park.
Police say a female officer was called out to a home to check the welfare of a child. After questioning a young man at the home, who said he was the only inside the home, the officer saw the toddler according to police.
Police say the female officer entered the home to check the welfare on the toddler and that’s when the dog saw the officer, ran up to her, and bit her. The officer called out for medics to assist her.
Animal Control was called out to quarantine the large pit bull per protocol. The female officer is going to the emergency room to be checked out.
Police say no charges have been filed, and no one was arrested.
