CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A man pleaded guilty Wednesday afternoon in a Nueces County courthouse in the case where he fatally shot his 18-year-old friend, Josiah Cantu.
20-year-old Austin Fair pleaded guilty to criminal negligent homicide and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
Fair shot at a home on Hanley Drive in March 2016.
It was originally investigated as an accident, but a year later new evidence emerged that led to a grand jury indictment.
Fair was sentenced to 90 days in jail and four years probation.
The 90-day sentence will be served over the next four years around the anniversary of Cantu's death.
