Joseph Tejeda will not face the death penalty.

That decision was announced by prosecutors today during a court hearing.

Tejeda is charged with capital murder in the death of 21-year-old Breanna Wood.

Her body was found near an abandoned home in Bluntzer back in January 2017.

She had been missing for several months.

Tejeda has pleaded not guilty.

His trial begins in September.
