Funeral services for CCPD officer Alan McCollum

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Fallen Corpus Christi Police Officer Alan McCollum will be laid to rest later this afternoon.

McCollum was killed in the line of duty on Friday.

The funeral service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. today at Church Unlimited Located off the crosstown extension and Weber road

46-year-old Officer Alan McCollum was hit and killed by a vehicle while conducting a traffic stop on SPID on January 31.

The vehicle that struck officer McCollum was driven by 26 year-old Brandon Portillo, who was arrested, booked, and charged with intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault, and driving with a suspended license.

Officer McCollum served with the Corpus Christi Police Department for seven years and was a twenty-one-year highly-decorated veteran of the United States Army.

Officer McCollum, who is survived by his wife and three children, was also a member of the Honor Guard and SWAT Team.

The burial will be held at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 2PM this afternoon.
