CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District has named Kimberley Donaldson James as the district’s Chief of Staff.
She will begin transitioning to her new role on Monday.
In this senior-level role, the district's Chief of Staff will work closely with Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez to help district departments and campuses excel. She will be heavily involved in bond initiatives, strategic planning and state accountability.
Additionally, James will work closely with community leaders to ensure CCISD continues to be a strong partner in Corpus Christi's forward momentum.
She previously served as the founding principal of Veterans Memorial High School, which opened in 2014.
Her 21 years in administration include serving at elementary, middle and high schools, including seven years as principal of Rockport-Fulton High School.
She has a bachelor of science degree from Southwest Texas State University, a master’s in education from Stephen F. Austin University, and is working toward her doctorate in educational leadership at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi.
In 2016, she was named Corpus Christi PTA Principal of the Year and In 2015, she was honored as Region 2 Principal of the Year.
“Kim’s extraordinary leadership at Veterans Memorial High School and her experience throughout the K-12 system allowed her to utilize skills we were seeking in a chief of staff,” said CCISD Superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez. “We are confident that she will bring the same passion and vision to her work at the district level.”
CCISD's 2019-20 school year begins Aug. 26.
