CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — It's election night in Texas for primary runoffs.
In the biggest race on the ballot, former Air Force pilot Mary “M.J.” Hegar is edging Royce West by about four percentage points in the Democratic runoff to see who will oppose incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. John Cornyn in November.
West is a longtime state senator and attorney from Dallas.
And locally, two constable races were on the ballot.
Jason McCahan defeated Mitchel Clark in the Constable Precinct 2 race.
Robert Sherwood upended Monty Allen in the Nueces County Constable Precinct 4 race.
