CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police say a driver who was trying to wake up a passenger caused an early morning accident.

The driver told police he was on Weber headed toward Saratoga just after 4 a.m. when he reached over to wake up a person riding in the car.

That’s when the vehicle went into the opposite lane and sideswiped an 18-wheeler.

The big rig's front tires blew out and the car was heavily damaged.

Fortunately, there were no major injuries.

The driver of the car was given a couple of tickets, however.
