CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The City of Corpus Christi, Nueces County and Texas A&M University Corpus Christi had a joint news conference to brief the public on a project to create prediction modeling for the local effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to city officials, the goal of the project is to predict the number of cases in the Coastal Bend and the impact it could have on local hospitals. They say the results will depend on mitigation measures, how well they are followed, and the characteristics of our local population.

Corpus Christi mayor Joe McComb, Nueces County Judge Barbara Canales and Corpus Christi City Manager Peter Zanoni were in attendance.

The A&M-Corpus Christi task force representatives included Dr. Philippe Tissot and Dr. Christopher Bird.
