CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — As Corona-virus concerns and cases spread, several people have asked us if power outages are possible.

With more people working from home and home-schooling their kids, there could be an increased demand for power.

There are also concerns that if lots of people who keep the power grid running get sick, we might start seeing failures.

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas, which manages the state's power grid, sent us a statement.

They say they are monitoring any changes to ERCOT's load; however, it is too early to determine COVID 19's impact on electric load patterns.
