CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi International Airport is open for business.
In an effort to help customers feel safe flying amidst COVID-19 fears, CCIA has upgraded some of their cleaning technology and procedures.
“At CCIA, we are doing everything possible to make the terminal safe, comfortable, and welcoming for travelers,” said CCIA Director of Aviation Fred Segundo. “Our staff has been working diligently to up our game when it comes to killing germs and pathogens that can spread illness."
This week, the Clorox Total 360 has been added to the tools for staff to clean public areas such restrooms, ticket counters, baggage claim areas, and other public areas.
"The innovative electrostatic sprayer, with the patented PowerWrap™ nozzle, delivers trusted Clorox solutions to the front, back, and sides of surfaces," a description on the official Clorox website states. "Superior coverage for better germ protection."
The website also states that, according to the EPA's Emerging Viral Pathogen Policy, the product is eligible for use against SARS-CoV-2, which is the virus that causes COVID-19.
The airport has more tech arriving later this month. The CASPR, short for Clean Air and Surface Pathogen Reduction, are said to work 24 hours a day pulling in air, treating droplets and moisture with UV light, and releasing the air back without pathogens.
"Our technology’s safe, natural purifiers actively seek out and eliminate indoor air pollution and illness-causing pathogens on surfaces," says the official CASPR website. "With a kill rate of up to 99.96% for all products, CASPR is effective against bacteria, viruses, molds, VOCs, odors, and more."
The CCIA has added some helpful low-tech solutions as well, such as touchless soap dispensers and faucets, hand-sanitizer locations, and social-distancing reminders.
Face coverings, which are mandatory on all airlines serving CCIA, will be available at the CCIA Administration Office to anyone entering the airport.
