CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Summer is the busiest time of the year for the Texas State Aquarium, but don't expect to see big crowds for the Fourth of July weekend.
The aquarium began operating at 25 percent capacity Friday because of the recent surge in COVID-19 cases.
Aquarium administrators said limiting the number of visitors is the right move to make sure everyone stays safe.
"It will make sure that the aquarium is not too crowded, and make sure that our guests have a lot of space for social distancing, and also make sure that no one is at risk, including our staff or our guests coming through the aquarium," said Tom Schmid, the aquarium's president and CEO.
The aquarium will be operating at reduced capacity until July 17.
The H-E-B splash park is also operating at 25% capacity.
