Several state agencies will be performing COVID-19 tests in Alice on Sunday and Monday.
The tests will be done by the National Guard, along with the Texas Military Department, the Texas Department of Emergency Management, and several other state agencies from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds, located at 3001 S. Johnson St. in Alice.
Those wanting to be tested must receive phone screening before they will be tested. Potential patients can call (512) 883-2400 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. or visit TXCOVIDTEST.ORG. Screenings are expected to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday for Jim Wells Co. residents.
Screening over the phone and online will consist of asking health-related questions. If it is determined that a patient meets the criteria for testing, they will be given an access code and an appointment date and time.
Testing will only be done on those with an access code and appointment. Those without an appointment will be turned away.
Testing is free and photo identification is required.
First responders and health care workers can be tested despite not having without symptoms.
