ROCKPORT, Texas — Rockport Police officials have reported several officers showing coronavirus symptoms after Independence Day weekend, including their Chief, who has tested positive.

Police Chief Greg Stevens and two other officers have tested positive for COVID-19 while three other officers and two department employees await their results. We are told they have been quarantined.

“An estimated thirty thousand visitors were in Rockport during the July 4th holiday time, and unfortunately our police officers could not avoid being in and amongst the crowds.” He goes on to say “regrettably, this is a vivid reminder of how quickly the virus can strike and spread”.

Chief Stevens reported feeling better Sunday after suffered from a headache, high fever, severe body aches, tightness in the chest, and a loss of taste and smell last week. Other officers reported the same symptoms.

Officials say none of the infected officers or civilian employees have required medical treatment so far.
