Tarrant County is reporting a second COVID-19 death in Texas.

The patient is an elderly person who also reportedly died on Sunday.

Matagorda County reported the first COVID-related death in the state Monday, a man in his late 90s.

The Tarrant County patient lived at the Texas Masonic Retirement Center in Arlington. No other details about the man's identity were released due to HIPAA laws.

The county's public health department is working with the retirement home to check other residents and staff for illness.

Contact tracing is being carried out in order to find out with whom the victim may have come in direct contact. Those people will then be isolated, monitored and tested, as needed. The City of Arlington's Public Health Authority will work with Tarrant County to carry that out.
