Stripes/Laredo Taco Company donates 5k face masks to local medical workers

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Local hospitals and healthcare workers are in crisis mode dealing with shortages of personal protective equipment due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, Corpus Christi City Councilwoman At-Large Paulette Guajardo announced a partnership with the Stripes/Laredo Taco Company and the Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council to provide local medical workers with critical gear. Stripes/Laredo Taco Company donated 5,000 standard contact precaution masks to medical workers in the local community to help in their fight against spreading the novel coronavirus.

Guajardo says she created a community support partnership with Stripes on public safety and currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is their highest priority. The Coastal Bend Regional Advisory Council Trauma Service Area U is a nonprofit organization with a mission to reduce death and disability related to acute illness and disaster through the implementation of well planned and coordinated disaster emergency response systems. It includes a level II Trauma Center, a level III Children’s Hospital and seven level IV facilities as well as Primary Certified Stroke Centers with PCI and Accredited Chest Pain Centers.
