CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Nueces County District Attorney's Office has been closed to the public.

According to Assistant District Attorney Angelica Hernandez, two employees tested positive for coronavirus on June 24.

The D.A.'s Office closed to the public on Thursday.

Nueces County District Attorney Mark Gonzalez said the decision was made after the recent cases in his office and across the Coastal Bend.

"We're trying to limit exposure," Gonzalez said. "If numbers go up, we will keep the office closed. If the numbers decline, we will eventually open the office up two days a week."

For the time being, the office will not hold any in-person meetings. Questions can be answered by phone at 361-888-0410 or by email at nueces.districtattorney@nuecesco.com.

Meanwhile, crews have deep cleaned and sanitized the entire office. All employees are being tested for COVID-19.

Hernandez said the office plans to update the D.A.'s Office Facebook page with the latest information.

"We apologize that we have not been able to put this out in the public," Hernandez said. "With all the uncertainty with testing, We didn't know what to do."
